Michael is the founder of M. BERGERON + CO. Michael was born in New Orleans and raised in Houma, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School (1986). He graduated from LSU with a BS in Accounting in December 1990 and began his career at a local firm in Baton Rouge. He passed the uniform Certified Public Accountant Exam in 1992.
In 1992, he returned to his native Houma, Louisiana to join his father, Claude Bergeron, CPA (1942-2004) in practice. In February 2005, Michael started M. Bergeron + Co.
Michael’s career started in the audit area, then moved to small business accounting, tax and consulting as his client roster increased in size. In 1996, he became involved in the business valuation area due to clients’ needs. In 2005, he earned the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Since 1996, Michael has performed numerous valuation assignments for clients in many industries. He has testified in Federal Court and in Louisiana District Court in various districts.
In 2005, Michael developed a seemless, on-line business process outsourcing (BPO) solution for MB + CO. clients. Client transactions are processed and records are maintained on our servers and monitored for proper accounting to ensure financial reporting for our clients is accurate and timely.
Michael is a source for innovative tax and accounting solutions due to his diverse client background and breadth of experience.
Michael is a member and officer of the Rotary Club of Houma and a member (2000-present) and former Chair (2004-2006) and former board member of Terrebonne General Medical Center Board. He has served throughout his career on several committees of the Louisiana Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs and the South Central Chapter of Louisiana CPA Society (former President of the SCCLCPA). In 2008, Michael was appointed to the State Board Louisiana CPA’s by Governor Jindal. He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Houma. He is married to Tamara Freeman of Beebe, Arkansas and they have two children, Hunter and Hayden.
Amy began her career in public accounting with a local firm in Baton Rouge after graduation from Nicholls State University in 2001. She returned to Houma in 2002 and worked in the tax and accounting area for a Houma CPA firm. She joined Michael Bergeron in the formation of M. Bergeron + Co. and is a charter employee with the firm. Amy works closely with her clients. She handles the tax compliance section of our practice including the following: Tax return preparation for individuals, corporations, s-corporations, partnerships, trusts, estate and gifts. Tax research and planning for individuals businesses and estates. Other tax projects including multi-scenario tax projections. Amy also works extensively with our small business clients in setting up QuickBooks accounting software to work accurately and effectively for their businesses. She works regularly perform business management tasks for our entertainment industry clients. Amy is married to Brance Lloyd. Amy and Brance have one daughter, Leighton.
Kristen comes to MB+ CO. with a diverse skill set of public and industry accounting and financial experience. She is a 2002 graduate of LSU (BS). She became a CPA in 2004. Her prior public accounting experience includes work with a large regional firm headquartered in Baton Rouge and a small firm in Houma. She has worked as a Manager and Controller in various industry positions. She brings substantial experience in managing the accounting process and working attest engagements from planning through report delivery. Kristen is married to Tanner Magee. They have three daughters who are triplets.
Meagan is a graduate of Nicholls State University (BA ’06, MBA ’08). Meagan joined MB+ CO in October 2009 and works with business accounts, business process outsourcing (BPO), individual and business tax, financial reporting and assists in business valuation. Meagan is married to Brian Vedros. They have one daughter, Nora.
Lisa started with MB+CO in February 2016. She comes to the firm with extensive public accounting experience, having worked with several CPA firms in the Houma-Thibodaux area.
Chelsea Brown is our office’s clerical and administrative assistant as well as receptionist. She is in charge of hospitality for MB+CO clients and friends and handles supply management and meeting coordination.
